Preface
Facing the global competition nowadays, enterprise should not only focus on its self-achievement for surviving the business. To develop themselves, enterprises need to contrast with the others, discover who is the best and know what the standards are, which is popular as benchmark. Benchmarking is seen as a management instrument which helps the business owner to know where his business stands against the competitors. No doubt that benchmark has taken a crucial part of business today as it makes necessary adjustments to improve overall performance.
The BUMN (Badan Usaha Milik Negara), which runs under the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, plays important roles in many different sectors such as banking, insurance, agriculture, transportation, construction, telecommunications, oil refining, public utilities and product manufacturing. It needs to identify the best player of every sector and set the standard so that the others could improve their performance by aligning with it. In addition, benchmark can be the efficient way to pinpoint the problems and solve it right away.
Given above, Fakultas Ilmu Komputer Universitas Indonesia (FASILKOM UI) is working to create an event called Information System Seminar: IT Governance Maturity Benchmark, along with its tagline “Know Your Position”. This event presents an IT Governance Control Objective Maturity Level report for both public and private companies based on the assessment that has been held since April until June 2010 of 103 companies.
